Wesley College

Founded in 1873 as a prepatory school, Wesley College has a covenant relationship with the United Methodist Church. The College offers 20 bachelors, four associates and master's degrees in nursing, education, business administration and environmental science in a multi-dimensional, multi-cultural campus setting.
Wesley College and its athletic facilities are located on 40 acres in historic Dover, Delaware, the capital of the nation's first state with 35,000 residents. The campus is situated in Dover's residential community. Most of the College's 1,725 students come from the Mid-Atlantic region. The majority of the full time students enroll directly from high school, but the College does provide programs for nontraditional students. Wesley has a fine 17:1 student to faculty ratio.
Wesley has a proud football tradition dating back to 1889. During the 1960s and 1970s the school boasted one of the finest junior college programs in the country under coaches Dick Smith and Bob Andrus. The Wolverines did not suffer a losing season from 1962 to 1977 and recorded unbeaten records in 1962, 1963 and 1976. In 1970, Wesley advanced to the Sterling Silver Bowl with an 8-1 record. The program developed talented young men, including 26 JUCO All-Americans that went on to successful programs such as Florida State and West Virginia.
In 1986, the program joined the ranks of NCAA Division III as the school grew to four-year status. In 1990, Wesley recorded its first of nine consecutive winning seasons and they have not had a losing season since 1989. The Wolverines have made postseason play 11 times in the last 17 years, including trips to the NCAA playoffs in 2000, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009. In 2007, Wesley advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals and finished the year fifth in the final AFCA Top 25. This past season they advanced to the NCAA Semifinals and finished the year fourth in the final AFCA Top 25 poll.
In his 18th season, head coach Mike Drass (143-42-1, .772) and the Wolverines boast an aggressive defensive philosophy that has finished in Division III's top 25 in total defense 11 times in the past 16 seasons, including three consecutive top five finishes from 1995 to 1997. Offensively, Wesley features a versatile pro style attack that has averaged near 350 yards and 30 points a game during the past 13 seasons.
