ACFC PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Week 1 - Sept. 1, 2007

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Ronnie Curley, Jr., QB, Salisbury

The junior from Ellicott City, Md. ran for 110 yards on 10 carries and scored two first quarter touchdowns in Salisbury's 42-12 win over Albright College.  Curley ran for 102 yards on seven carries in the first quarter, including 61 of the 72 yards on the first scoring drive.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Sean Matthews, Jr., LB, Wesley

The junior linebacker from Pennsauken, NJ amassed a career-high 16 tackles as seventh-ranked Wesley College defeated North Carolina Wesleyan College 34-31 in Dover.  He recorded five solo and 11 assisted tackles, with 0.5 for a loss and one fumble recovery as the Wolverines held off a late charge from the Battling Bishops.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Larry Beavers, Jr., WR, Wesley

The junior wide receiver from Annapolis, Md. opened his season with a bang for the Wolverines on Saturday.  With Wesley trailing, Beavers returned the opening kick of the second half 82 yards for a touchdown to put the Wolverines ahead to stay. His other kick return went for 26 yards and Beavers ran one punt back for seven yards. He also caught four passes for 38 yards and another touchdown. Beavers accumulated 115 yards in returns.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Mike Kinder, Fr., DL, Apprentice School

The freshman lineman from Zanesville, Oh. had seven tackles with 2.5 coming for a loss of three yards as the Apprentice School lost 3-0 to Division II Fairmont State University.  The Builders held Fairmont to 266 yards of offense and the Falcons got to inside the 20 on three occasions only scoring on a 34-yard field goal in the second quarter.
