ACFC Week 1 Players Of The Week


 

Defense

Aaron Benson, Sr., Wesley, SS, Swarthmore, Pa.

Recorded six tackles ( 5 solo), one tackle for a loss and one 73-yard interception return for a touchdown as the ninth-ranked Wesley Wolverines shutout 20th-ranked Christopher Newport 34-0.

Offense

Makhia Cooper, Sr., Frostburg State, WR, Baltimore, Md.

Had seven catches for 106 yards and a pair of fourth quarter touchdowns as Frostburg State made a furious rally in the second half but fell 41-28 at Geneva.

Rookie

Thomas Mason, Fr., Apprentice School, P/K,  Disputanta, Va.

Had an impressive opening week as he averaged 43 yards per punt, 55 yards per kickoff, hit both extra-point attempts and tied a school record for the longest field goal as he hit a 44-yard attempt in the Builders' 35-19 loss at NAIA 25th-ranked Malone University.

Special Teams

Tommy Kowalick, Jr., Salisbury, K, Sterling, Va.

Connected on a pair of field goals, hit 2-of-3 extra-points and averaged over 62 yards per kickoff as Salisbury defeated NCAA Division II Pace University 34-14.
